Well, what a difference! Diners who came to our first dinner arrived in the pouring rain huddling under umbrellas, whilst those that came to the second arrived in wall-to-wall sunshine. What was the same for both was the excellent food and service that we enjoyed.
We left the familiar haunts of Moraira and Benitachell behind and met at the delightful Attico restaurant on the top floor of the Javea Hotel in the port area, with stunning views of the port and coast from its panoramic windows.
Luz and her team of ladies welcomed us with a glass of cava. When we had all found our seats after being able to chat together, (a new treat!), we sat down to an amuse bouche of a large prawn, breaded and deep fried – delicious. Three starter dishes followed, shared by all on the table: a mixed salad, a salmon and prawn kebab and goat cheese in a light pastry case.
A pause was definitely needed before a wide range of individual meat and fish main courses arrived, which included a brochette of tender beef, pork and chicken with vegetables, and a whole turbot. Apple strudel and ice cream was the most popular of the three desserts.
Nobody went home hungry! Indeed many “doggy bags” were seen with the departing diners.
Luz and her friendly, attentive staff looked after us well, and many people commented on how much they had enjoyed the evening. So thank you Luz!
