Another return visit, this time to D’Gust in the centre of Moraira town.
On our last visit we were slightly disappointed in the service as the restaurant was very busy. We had booked the entire inside seating but the outside terrace was full too and unfortunately we felt slightly neglected.
Thinking this visit would be different as not many people would brave the elements, especially when we awoke to SNOW that very morning!
Sadly this weather did affect our bookings and from 45 Chica’s booked only 39 brave souls attended and unfortunately some did not contact Lynn to cancel! However, we were disappointed once again as the owners squeezed yet more outside clients in to fill our empty spaces! I would have thought any restaurant in Moraira on that dreadful day would have been more than satisfied with 39 pre booked customers!
So, from not a very good start I can report that on the whole most Chicas had a very enjoyable lunch. The goat cheese salad was fab and most enjoyed the salmon tartar however a couple of people said the salmon was oily. We were served a wonderful coconut sorbet between courses. When the main courses arrived some of the first ones were cold and were sent back, this problem was immediately rectified and all other meals were piping hot and served on lovely hot plates. The Duck was delicious and the Beef cheeks (a speciality) melted in the mouth.
A special mention for the drinks provided, from our welcome Cava and all through the meal the wine was of an exceptional standard and free flowing from our attentive waitress, water was served on the tables and everyone was invited to order coffee at no extra cost. This is not always the case with some of the restaurants we have visited and was most welcome.
We had a great finish when an assortment of desserts were served and everyone thanked the owners of D’Gust Miguel and Thomas and their staff for looking after us so very well.
Dot Garrett.
