Gardening Group Summer Programme

Jardin de los Sentidos Nov 18th 2013

The Gardening Group is open to anyone who enjoys Gardens, you don’t have to be an active Gardener, as much enjoyment, in fact arguably more, can come from visiting Gardens. Here on The Costa Blanca, not only are we blessed with a perfect climate, but many Gardens available to visit.

Our Summer Programme of visits is:

May 19th The Iris Gardens

situated high in The Sierra Bernia, these gardens offer Peace Tranquility & Dramatic surroundings as well as the largest collection of Iris in Spain & possibly Europe.

As a Group we last visited in April 2009, there is an excellent account contained in the Archived Newsletter 10.

Further information is available from the web check out the video on the site, it’s very relaxing.

June [date tba] The Lavender Gardens

Situated quite locally on the Benissa to Jalon road near The Queen Elizabeth School.

The website claims “they have been created with love & idealism. An authentic & mediterranean ambience with thousands of lavender plants. You will walk on comfortable pathways suitable for wheelchairs.Quite peaceful romantic places to stop & admire the surroundings”.

July [date tba] el Sueño…The Dream

Not far from The Ondara shopping centre, this one’s new to me, more information next month, but in the meantime check out

Isn’t The Internet wonderful.

Wherever possible & only if required, depending on the timing of the visit we will endeavour to organise a simple lunch or at the very least a Get Together over Coffee & Cake.

Like many of the plants in our Mediterranean Gardens we are lying dormant.

Volunteers Required

Within our Autumn programme we would like to incorporate visits to Members Gardens, this has proved very beneficial in the past, not only to see what others are growing but also to discuss the myriad of problems which can & frequently do occur.
