We are glad to share a message from Rosemary Sheppard, leader of the Creative Writing Group:
“I thought you would like to know that two members of our group have recently had books accepted for publication – one, by Vonnie Giles, is a book of short stories and the other, by Hilary Coombes, is a novel. As soon as more is known about publication dates and availability I will pass it on. We are all totally thrilled by their success and I think they would agree with me that they would probably not have achieved this if it hadn’t been for their membership of the U3A. Hilary says “it was our group that gave me the confidence that my own writing wasn’t that bad after all. Without you all I’m not sure whether I would have been bold enough to pursue it.”
Coupled with this, one of our members, Mike Hillier, is a prolific novel writer and has several books in print, another one coming out soon, which he is arranging himself.
We really enjoy our fortnightly meetings in the group and we have all accomplished things which we would not have dreamed possible before. Unfortunately at the moment we do not have the capacity for any new members.
