SUMMARY:The Story of The Bayeux Tapestry
DESCRIPTION:The Bayeux Tapestry is one of the most famous pieces of Medieval art in the world and it\ndepicts many of the events which occurred between William, the Duke of Normandy\nand Harold Godwinson who became King Harold 2 nd of England.\nThe tapestry, which is an amazing 70 metres or 230 feet long, depicts two years of the lives\nof both William and Harold leading up to and including the Norman Conquest of England in\n1066, which, of course, was led by William, Duke of Normandy when he challenged Harold\n2 nd for his throne, culminating in the Battle of Hastings.\nContrary to popular belief, the tapestry is believed to have been made in England, probably\nin Canterbury but it is now displayed in the Musee de la Tapestry in the town of Bayeux in\nFrance.\nIn this talk we look in some detail at the lives of both William and Harold before they met in\nthe decisive battle at Hastings which, of course, altered the course of British history.\n\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n
