U3A Moraira-Teulada Spanish Themed Picnic
On 19th May the U3A Moraira had a “party in the park” at Font Santa. When the day dawned it was lot cooler and very cloudy and as the Social Sub Committee and helpers started to erect Gazebos, to keep the sun off the entertainers, it started to rain. However this didn’t dampen peoples’ enthusiasm and in true stoic British style 200 members turned up armed with not only their picnics, but umbrellas and jackets too.
The steel band Poco Loco entertained everyone as they arrived and set up their tables with friends and the rain was very light.
Then Duo Intermezzo entertained us with their excellent singing while two gigantic paellas were being prepared. Sangria had been provided to keep the Spanish theme going.
After the paella Duo Intermezzo returned to entertain us for another hour. Their performance was excellent and at the end the members gave them a standing ovation.
We were lucky with the weather, as in a lot of nearby areas there was torrential rain. The whole day was great fun and proved that the (mainly) Brits will always enjoy themselves whatever the weather.
